Google DeepMind released Gemini Robotics 2, a model that gives humanoid robots whole-body control — feet to fingertips — instead of a single bolted-down arm. On Apptronik's Apollo robot, a plain-language instruction like "put the watering can in the green bin on the bottom shelf" becomes the full sequence: walk to the table, pick it up, cross to the shelves, and place it. A companion model plans multi-step tasks that run for minutes and self-corrects when something goes wrong, and separate robots can split a job between them.
Warehousing and yard work is physical and varied — exactly what fixed automation has struggled with. Robots that walk, grasp, and coordinate as a group push the frontier toward the mixed tasks a DC actually runs. It stays partner-access and early, so the near-term signal is which 3PLs begin piloting humanoids, not a line you deploy this quarter.
