This scheme involved USPS employees, an online platform (Telegram), and parcel carriers (FedEx) to move stolen financial instruments. The indictment details the theft of checks from mail routes, their marketing on a Telegram channel named "slipsandchips," and subsequent shipping through FedEx from October 2022 through September 2024. This highlights a critical vulnerability where insider access to one part of the supply chain enables fraud within another.
Operators must reinforce background checks and continuous monitoring for employees with access to high-value goods or sensitive information, especially at first-mile collection points and final-mile delivery.
